Flooring & tile calculator
Measure your rooms. Add a cutting allowance. Get a whole-pack shopping list.
The calculation
The order combines compatible rooms before rounding up. Check the coverage on your actual pack.
Area = sum of (length × width) Target area = area × (1 + waste ÷ 100) Packs = round up (target area ÷ pack coverage) Material cost = packs × pack price
Calculation walkthrough
A 3 × 4 m room is 12 m². With 10% waste the target is 13.2 m². At 2.2 m² per pack, buy exactly 6 packs. At 35 per pack, the material estimate is 210. If coverage changes to 2 m² per pack, you need 7 packs, because a 6.6-pack order must round upward.
Verify the inputs with your supplier before placing an order.
Before ordering materials
Use these guides to check the assumptions behind your estimate.
Measure an irregular room without double-counting
Start with a sketch, then turn the floor into simple rectangles.
Why a small area change can add a whole pack
Coverage is continuous; an order usually is not.
Flooring questions
Is 10% waste always enough?
No. This is an editable example, not an installation recommendation. Layout, patterns, cuts, damage and future repairs affect the allowance. Ask your installer.
Why combine rooms before rounding?
Rooms using the same product may share usable offcuts. Combine their area and round once. Calculate different products, finishes and incompatible batches separately.
Does this plan tile cuts or joints?
No. It estimates coverage and whole-pack purchasing. It does not calculate board layout, joint spacing, stairs, expansion gaps or structural requirements.
Allow for every cut.
