Print a 4032 × 3024 phone photo
Calculate native print dimensions and check what changes for a 12 × 8 inch print.
Start with the pixel dimensions
Use the original exported file, not a messaging-app preview. A 4032 × 3024 image has 12,192,768 pixels, approximately 12.19 megapixels. Enter width 4032, height 3024 and 300 PPI. PrintMeasure calculates 13.44 × 10.08 inches, or approximately 34.14 × 25.60 cm, without changing or uploading the file.
Compare resolution targets
At 240 PPI, the same pixels cover 16.80 × 12.60 inches. At 150 PPI, they cover 26.88 × 20.16 inches. A larger result means fewer pixels per inch, not new image detail. A suitable target depends on viewing distance, paper, image sharpness and the print service. Ask the printer before choosing a low target for a large poster.
Prepare a 12 × 8 inch crop
The original photo is 4:3, while a 12 × 8 print is 3:2. To fill that shape without stretching, one possible centered crop retains all 4032 pixels of width and 2688 pixels of height. That removes 336 pixels of height in total, about 11.11% of the original height. Important faces or text near the top and bottom may be lost.
The cropped 4032 × 2688 file printed at 12 × 8 inches gives 336 PPI in both directions. Enter those cropped dimensions and 336 PPI to reproduce the result. The calculator itself does not crop or preview the printer’s bleed. Keep a separate original and approve the lab’s crop preview.
PPI does not certify print quality
A blurred or heavily compressed image can remain poor at 300 PPI. Printer DPI describes the output device’s dots; it is not the same quantity as image PPI. Resampling can increase the pixel count but cannot guarantee recovered detail. Check a proof for an important print, especially if color matching matters.
